The downstairs of the pub was lovely and had a great range of food and had a lovely feel, had really high hopes for our stay. Some of the staff were great and very welcoming, but did have to wait a while to be checked in and out as some of the staff were busy messing around behind the bar rather than serving us and other customers.
Room provided was not like any that were displayed on the listing photos which was really disappointing. It’s was a lot lower on the scale of modern or done up but there were still some nice features about the place. The room was covered in ‘fixes’ that were done poorly and not fried properly, and there was a lot of damp in the room, showing drip marks and wet patches on the walls and giving off a slightly musky smell.
There was mold in the bathroom too and the plumbing for toilet and bath was quite poor as didn’t drain, which was a shame as apart from the above it looked really lovely. The bathroom was well stocked with good toiletries which was appreciated.
Quite chilly in the evening as the windows didn’t close properly and the electric heater in the room was broken.
The bed was not too bad, it was presented nicely but was rather uncomfortable and there were hairs in the bed when we first checked in. There were hairs in the bedding when we first checked in too.
Some nice aspects of the place but was a shame there were so many smaller things that made it not the best stay.
Had a family room in the annexe overlooking the river. Very spacious for us and the dog. The only negatives a bigger fridge would have been nice for a week's stay. And there was workmgoing on at the building next door so a bit noisy but would definitely stay again
Overall the room was clean and tidy,Bathroom needed the grout seeing to,other than that everything was fine.
The room had potential to be really nice.
It's modern with nice facilities, but it was sadly very dirty, floors and furniture very dusty, badly in need of a proper clean.
When you got onto the bed after walking on the floor, all of the dust and hairs gathered on the bed!
The mirror was filthy, you couldn't see in it.
We also didn't know (as it's not shown anywhere on the booking or explained when you book) that not everyone stays in the actual hotel building, Like us, we checked in and had to stay in a place a road or two down, so not onsite.
So that was a shame.

Stopped here just for one night, I would definitely stay again. Nice room, lovely view and staff all very friendly. Appledore a good place to use as a base to explore the area. We'll be back.
An excellent short stay, room very comfortable, friendly service and a delicious breakfast.
