Mukan resort was beyond words. I have never had a more wonderful experience in my whole life. The resort was incredibly well kept and serene, and the wait staff were top class. I can’t recommend Mukan more highly!!!
Beautiful room, nice location, however price is too high for value, and dinners much too expensive.

Absolutely stunning, breath-taking slice of heaven away from tourist traps and in the thick of a nature preserve. Felt like we had the place nearly to ourselves. Plenty of privacy even in the main lodge. Service was great. A drive from Tulum proper- but we rented a car and all in all, once you get past the strip of "trendy" (i.e. tacky) resorts near Tulum, the road down to Mukan was one of the most beautiful drives I've ever taken. I am counting down until my next visit back. I could write a novella about all the wonderful attributes here - the sand, the sea, the beach, the dogs, the sunset dock by the mangroves. We took a nature excursion through the hotel and saw sea turtles, dolphins, and manatees. The only small note I'll say - the food is not amazing. It's fine - but dinner (sans the delicious cheesecake) didn't impress me.
Couldn’t think of a better place to spend time. From start to finish Juan and his team manage to make what is already an incredibly special place even more special. Beautiful location, wonderful hotel and attentive service. We loved it.
This is a great remote hotel amidst the bustle of Tulum. An hour south (3 hours from airport). Cute Boutique hotel with 10 rooms. Secluded, great service. Food was fine (nothing incredible but it was good). The hotel has a beach side with kayaks and paddle boards and a lagoon side where you can hire a boat to show You around. It’s not cheap but we saw dolphins and turtles. The sunset on the lagoon side was beautiful. We stayed in the master beach villa which I highly recommend. It’s off on its own with direct beach views. The staff was very personalized and everyone was nice. They made us a candlelight 4 course dinner in front of our room and set up free cocktails and apps for sunset. Lots of hammocks and day beds for places to relax. This place is great for a family reunion or corporate retreat, couples or a group of friends. The stars at night were also amazing

We have spent the last 25 years staying at various resorts up and down this peninsula, this is the second place we have ever felt we can come back to over and over. Everything is carefully curated including their staff, to the point where you feel like you are staying with a close friend who also happens to have a lot of money. It is not ostentatious or hip, it is very real and low key. For sure the coolest place I've ever stayed. I had never taken a yoga class or done guided meditation but decided to try it out, Barbara is the most humble, sweetest and patient instructor. Meditation on the beach with her was restorative. I wish I had more space for this review to name each person by name because everyone is so amazing at Mukan. It is an art form how they perfectly balance giving you privacy with meeting your needs.
This is the perfect place for anyone who lives a very busy life back home and just needs to hit the re-set button. You can do a little or as much as you want in this area. Punta Allen is approximately a ten minute drive on freshly laid road, should you get cabin fever. In July it does get hot but the air conditioning system in the palapa was very efficient. The Sargasso situation is not bad here like everywhere else we stopped at. Only 1 day the water was tea stained, the other days it was clean. Also there is a natural pool a short walk which also had a few days where the water was perfect.
