This is such a beautiful property! Absolutely loved it! Service is fantastic, rooms are spacious, modern with Asian details, bathroom was great, clean, and comfortable. Staff is wonderful, attentive, welcoming, efficient. The lady at the front desk helped me out a lot with tour booking. The view/sunset from the lake was incredible! December from the spa gave me a fantastic Myanmar massage. Highly recommend this hotel! And the massage! Would definitely stay here again!
i stayed in one of the lake view rooms. the bedroom, bathroom and sitting room were all well-designed, decorated and very comfortable.
the view was as beautiful as i hoped. there's a comfortable seating area on the porch on the lake side.
thr grounds were lovely.
breakfast was delicious.
the only drawback is that the hotel is far from the town or pretty much anything else. there's a small local resto down the street, otherwise it's restaurant food for you. or pay $10 to go into town.
Stunning hotel design and amazingly friendly staff, definitely select a room on the lake if you can, the views are lovely during the day. There is an artificial island in front of the hotel that they light up in neon red at night - I found this an odd distraction to the otherwise very peaceful/natural scenery. On the surface, it is one of the least environmentally friendly hotels I've stayed at (e.g., all water is provided in small plastic bottles, there is not a convenient option to refill them; each time housekeeping comes through, which is multiple times a day, they turn on all of the lights in the room... and there are many). My original room had a very strong sewage odor problem and it took 3 days before they moved me to another room, which made enjoying the beautiful facilities difficult. Oddly, the restaurant on the lake is only open for dinner, when it is dark and you can't enjoy the view. Unsurprisingly, food prices were high for Myanmar (e.g., grilled cheese = $12, I think the buffet was $25; $4 was the most I paid for a meal elsewhere, including nice hotels). I booked 3 full day trips - all are transportation only (no guide), all lasted 5 hours at the most and it seemed like quite a bit more could have been added to get value from the itinerary and distances traveled (e.g., the trip to Kakku/Taunggyi drives thru Taunggyi...which adds 90mins to the trip...but didn't make any stops in the city, even though there are several sites of interest).

Outstanding hotel.
The location is perfect for those who want to enjoy the peaceful side of Inle Lake as the setting - hills and fields stretching behind, with the lake sprawling out from the front - is idyllic.
We were greeted warmly by every member of staff we encountered, and nothing was too much trouble. They were so helpful and gracious, though never overbearing.
We stayed over New Year, and the celebrations laid on by the hotel were excellent.
I would wholeheartedly recommend the Sofitel Inle Lake to anyone and everyone.
It was wonderful stay.
When I arrived this hotel, it was 5:00 am.
But the staff of reception (Thaw zin aung) offered me a room very earlier than I expected, I really appreciated about it. Because we were very tired.
Also I was very impressed by the view of Inle lake. I can see the wonderful lake in the room. The condition of room was really great. Also a lot of staffs are very helpful and kind. Especially, Moana and Thaw were very nice. I want to say thank you for everything.
I strongly recommend this hotel for traveller in Inle lake.
